Third Trimester
August 24, 2004 I had another appointment with Beth today. Up 6 lbs in 2 weeks! I really didn't eat that much of Damian's birthday cake. It appears that baby (and I) have gone through a big growth spurt. My uterus is measuring a full 4 weeks ahead and that's with the baby already engaged in my pelvis. That could explain all the stabbing jabs to my cervix, the non-existent bladder capacity, and the not-so-cute waddle. Jessica had baby Ava there with her this visit and the kids just absolutely adore her. They are going to love having their own baby to love. They wanted me to take Ava home. Oh and a cool thing is, the local paper wants to do an article on Beth and homebirths and she asked me if I would be the client she showcased. I'll get to meet the reporter at my next appt. So there will be 2 other spectators at my homebirth, the reporter and photographer. I usually labor nekkie so boy are they in for an eyeful! August 19, 2004 Baby gave us a huge scare Tuesday and yesterday. I didn't feel much movement on Tuesday, but I was really busy and just attributed it to not paying attention. At bedtime, when the babe's most active uterine acrobatics begin, there was only slight movement. little nudges. Then yesterday, again, all day...no movement. Finally, at 4 pm, I called Beth all panicky. She told me to drink a large glass of orange juice and go lie down and to call her back in an hour and let her know if the baby had moved or not. So I did, and nothing. I was poking and prodding, hoping to jostle the bean, but I wasn't getting any response. So she had me come to her house to listen to heartones. I get there, and as soon as she puts the doppler on me...swish, swish, swish...baby sounded fine. He/She had decided to take a very looong nap and scare the bejeezus out of mommy in the process! She listened for about 5 minutes just to be sure, and then finally babe gave Beth a hard thump on her hand. phew. Beth said I had her worried, because on Tuesday she had another client experience fetal demise at 26 weeks. August 13, 2004 Today we had our 3D
ultrasound. And just as our luck would have it, baby lynch wasn't the most
cooperative baby. Baby was covering it's face with both arms most of the time,
with its right leg up near it's head, and the umbilical cord floating in front
of its mouth. The tech did a lot of poking, and I was flipping from side to
side, hoping to jostle babe into a better position, but no go. We did finally
get a few of the face, clear of any arms, but they still are not the best. But
even though they are not the best, they are still soooo cool. you can tell that
the babe will have Damian's/Aidan's nose. |
